TOTALIZER Block Documentation
Overview
The Totalizer block is used to calculate the accumulated value of a process signal over time—typically used for flow measurements, energy consumption, or any continuously increasing quantity.
When the Totalizer block icon is selected on the HMI, a detailed faceplate opens up, allowing users to view live process data, adjust parameters, and manage the totalizer reset.
Block Icon
The Totalizer block icon represents the cumulative total of a process value (e.g., flow). It provides essential information directly on the icon for at-a-glance monitoring.
- Blue Color Area: Displays the tag number for identification.
- TOTAL: Displays the calculated totalized value in real-time.
On Clicking the Totalizer block icon, the associated faceplate opens, providing detailed control and status parameters.
Faceplate Tab
- PV (Process Value): Real-time incoming flow or signal value.
- TOTAL: Accumulated total.
- Correction Factor (C_Fac): A scaling factor to adjust measurements.
- Reset Button: Resets the accumulated total to zero.
- ByTime: Optional sampling time base for updating the totalizer.
Operator Actions
Action | How to Perform | Caution |
---|---|---|
Monitor Flow/Usage | Watch the TOTAL field for real-time updates. | None. |
Reset Totalizer | Press the RESET button on the faceplate. | Use only when needed. Reset will erase current accumulated value. |
Check Process Value | Ensure PV shows realistic flow or input readings. | Contact maintenance if values look wrong. |
Important: Only reset the TOTAL when the batch or operation is complete.
Usage Notes
- Ensure
C_Fac
is configured based on your measurement units (e.g., liters per second to cubic meters). - Set the
ByTime
parameter according to the sampling frequency or operational logic. - Use the RESET button with caution; it clears the current totalized data.
